We like to devote the occasional blog post to offer recommendations and praise for some of our favorite eateries in NYC. Today, that place we'd like to bring to your attention would be The Spotted Pig.
This bar/restaurant/hot spot is as known for its food as its relaxed West Village setting and equally hip patrons. Nestled on the covetable corner of Greenwich and 11th Streets, you'll find a cozy and chic little atmosphere surrounding a lively bar scene that inhabits two floors (a third if you count the ultra private VIP room that serves as the perfect little party space). Always brimming with a lively bunch, The Spotted Pig offers delectable bar fare like deviled eggs and bacon wrapped dates in a slightly fancier fashion, among mains of striped bass and pork rillette. Every morsel
on their menus are sure to be crowd pleasers, especially the burger--a heap of perfectly cooked meat topped with creamy roquefort cheese impressively surrounded with micro-thin shoestring fries. It's undoubtedly one of the best burgers in the city. Trust us.
The Pig's beer and wine selection is a massive one, and the staff clearly does their homework on all of their offerings. Just be sure to head in early, as we've already hinted at the establishment's popularity and they actually don't take reservations. If you go and spot a seat at one of their bars, take it; full service is welcome throughout. Don't forget to look around while you're there, celebrity and high profile sightings are a regular occurrence. Just be sure to be discreet while perusing the crowd. Nothing screams TOURIST like a celebrity-spotting-public-freak-out.
