MARSALA

MARSALA

An annual December event, PANTONE® reveals the it color for the coming year, setting the template for the go-to color palette designers of every genre will build their collections around for seasons to come. 2014 belonged to "Radiant Orchid", a happy, flirty fuchsia-esque tone while "Emerald" (the name says it all) was the PANTONE® star of 2013.

PANTONE® is the global authority on color and color communicator across multiple technologies, platforms, institutions--basically everything that somehow involves the language and expression of a solitary hue. Every single thing around us is made up of color. For those of us unable to see, we instead translate color into touch, taste, and scent. A colorful life is a rich life. A colorful character is a most unique individual, through and through. I'll always remember my grandmother describe the first time she ever witnessed a film in color. It was 1939 when Dorothy and her vibrant crew stepped out of a black and white scene and into the most vivid new, undiscovered world when the viewing audience gasped in utter awe and total mesmerization. That yellow brick road. Those ruby slippers! The Lion's rosy cheeks. The Good Witch's bubblegum pink confection of a dress. Film would never be the same again, and it was all because of color.

At Feldspar Brook, our admiration for color is an obvious one. Thanks to PANTONE® we are able to utilize 365 of these on a daily basis. It's no real stretch to say that we find a great deal of excitement upon the revealing of the annual color. Especially when that color is as sexy and strong as "Marsala", the PANTONE® hue of 2015. Just like the Sicilian town for which the name originates, Marsala is a distinguished and sophisticated tint, while also being earthy and mysterious. Gents look dapper in Marsala-saturated silk ties while ladies are fashion-forward with the wine stained lips and fingernails.

We'll have fun celebrating the Marsala color, especially during these winter months in the form of spicy red wines, and as always--through style and worldly adventures.
