Feldspar Brook's Wholesales Manager had a glorious idea; why not host a happy hour in a quaint little watering hole in the heart of Manhattan and allow guests to shop #ThePerfectPolo while also giving back to two very important and significant causes. After all, isn't all of that what we originally set out to do together as a new brand and team? It is indeed, so we rounded the troops and set our sights on Benson's NYC, located on the popular Lower East Side, set up shop and mingled amongst polo shirts, charity, and great company.
Feldspar Brook & Co supports WATERisLIFE, an organization changing lives in the most rural parts of the world where clean drinking water simply does not exist. These guys travel to Tanzania, Ghana, Haiti and beyond to offer their brilliant Filter Straws, sanitation and hygiene classes and their extraordinary Drinkable Book--consisting of filters as paper pages that supply clean water to a family for up to four years. As a new fashion and lifestyle company based in Soho, the only way for us to be truly successful is to be as economically responsible and kind to this world as possible, especially given the irresponsibilities of this particular industry as of late. We more than understand the dire importance of an organization such as WATERisLIFE and the steps they are taking every day to make this world a better place for all.
Together, with the Australian owners of Benson's NYC, a Thursday night happy hour was held in their cozy space in honor of introducing our product--The Perfect Polo--along with a chance to donate to WATERisLIFE, as well as another sweet organization for one seriously adorable little Australian girl named Mia. Mia's Little Leg, Big Adventure was founded by her loving family in order to raise enough funds to receive the treatment for Mia's PFFD (proximal femoral focal deficiency, also known as CFD- congenital femoral deficiency). You see, Mia was born with one femur significantly shorter than the other one which will make her growth process painful and highly discouraging with this type of disability. She's a beautiful baby girl that deserves a life filled with all of the running and playing her little heart desires. One of the two owners of Benson's, Annie Morton, attended school with Mia's mom in Australia, so this cause is near and dear to her heart.
Feldspar Brook's fundraising event was truly a success. Friends, neighbors, colleagues and local strangers partook in purchasing raffle tickets to win a Benson's gift certificate or a Feldspar Brook polo, with all proceeds going towards WATERisLIFE and Mia's Little Leg, Big Adventure. Guests also dabbled in a little polo shopping, with 12% of proceeds to fund these orgs as well. Obliging to a happy hour needs little convincing, but libations taste much sweeter when they involve sipping for a cause or two.
Many thanks to all of those who came out to support our new brand, WATERisLIFE and Mia's Little Leg, Big Adventure. Last night's festivities certainly will not be a thing of the past for any of us here at Feldspar Brook. There's plenty of fun to be had for a purpose.
