Fourteen years ago today, American lives were forever changed. 2,977 lives were lost to terrorist attacks on September 11th, 2001; 246 flying with those four planes, 2,606 trapped inside the World Trade Center and the surrounding area, and 125 lives ended at the Pentagon that day. This resounding number of fateful casualties does not include victims of cancer diagnoses from exposure to toxins at Ground Zero, nor the lives of unborn babies during the attacks. America has never seen a tragedy of this magnitude in all of her 239 years. No matter where we were on 9-11-01, we all felt it and would continue to share our immense pain with our neighbors and fellow American every year thereafter. This attack on our soil would ignite an endless war overseas costing our Country billions of dollars and millions of lives. We would steadfastly rebuild what was physically torn down that day and continue to focus on rebuilding what lies internally, but none of us will ever forget. Never.

On this 14th anniversary of the greatest American tragedy of all time, life continues on here in New York City, business as usual. Nothing is fulfilled without stopping for a moment on this day, to look up to the clouds where those two towers once stood, to take it all in for our fellow man. Even as the *Style-Set slip into their finest threads and hit the nonstop fashion circuit as New York Fashion Week kicks off yet again, even dripping with Prada and attitude, the devotion for this incomparable city never wavers.

For one fleeting moment in time everyone came together that day and everyday thereafter to help one another heal before joining forces to rebuild what faltered. Strangers became friends and societies commingled because for once, we realized that hatred can take things from us but it cannot tear us apart. New York and its fine people are some of the most resilient in the world. Fashions may fade, but love and kindness are eternal.
