Today, we want to talk about a small and unassuming place located on Soho’s quiet Thompson street. Are we talking about Feldspar Brook? Guess again!
Hirohisa, a Japanese restaurant right across Feldspar Brook, is a must try for this weekend. The restaurant’s exterior is unassuming: exposed white bricks with one compact window and a small wooden plaque. It is easy to pass by this place, thinking it is closed.
Our neighbor, Hirohisa, is under the management of Chef Hirohisa Hayashi, who is from Japan. His intriguing menu offers a 7 course/9 course tasting menu and a la carte but do not expect your normal omakase. Instead, this restaurant specializes in kappo cuisine, using fresh local ingredients and imported Japanese ingredients.
Kappo cuisine is more focused on seafood and meat rather than raw sushi dishes. So, definitely expect more non-sushi dishes. The ingredients are prepared using traditional Japanese cooking methods like stewing, frying, and boiling. Each dish will be exploding with flavors.
Similar to its modest interior, Hirohisa’s interior and dishes are simple and clean. An exquisite experience for people in search for authentic Japanese Kappo cuisine. This restaurant is a must-try for this weekend.
And if your shirt feels a bit tight, drop by Feldspar Brook across the street!
